The ISL6522 provides complete control and protection for DC-DC converters optimized for high performance microprocessor applications. It is designed to drive two n-channel MosFeTs in a synchronous rectifier step-down topology. ISL6522 integrates all control, output tuning, monitoring, and protection functions into a single package.Converter output voltage can be finely adjusted to 0.8 V, the right temperature and maximum tolerance of the line voltage change ±1%.
The ISL6522 provides simple, single feedback loop, voltage mode control and fast transient response. It includes a 200kHz free-running triangle wave oscillator that can be adjusted from less than 50kHz to more than 1MHz. Error amplifier with 15 MHZ gain bandwidth product and 6v s conversion rate, which can realize high converter bandwidth fast transient performance.
The resulting PWM duty cycle ranges from 0 to 100%. The ISL6522 prevents overcurrent conditions by suppressing PWM operation. The ISL6522 eliminates the need for current sensing resistance by using the rDS(ON) of the upper mosFETs to monitor the current.
