On January 7, Garmin and Qualcomm Technologies announced today at the 2025 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025) that the two parties will expand their cooperation in the field of automotive technology and launch a new generation of digital cockpit solution Garmin Unified Cabin 2025, which can provide scalable domain controller functions based on a single Garmin control module.
This solution is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Extreme Edition, which can provide immersive entertainment experience on all in-vehicle displays and promote the development of software-defined vehicle architecture.
Through this technical cooperation, Garmin's digital cockpit solution will provide a new generation of hardware built on the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Extreme Edition, and through the dedicated neural network processor (NPU) of the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Extreme Edition, it will bring enhanced in-vehicle generative AI, which can support functions such as theme customization and voice assistant.
The Snapdragon Cockpit Platform Extreme Edition is equipped with Qualcomm Technologies' most powerful Qualcomm Oryon CPU, an improved Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that can achieve multi-modal AI performance.
IT Home checked public information and learned that the cooperation between Garmin and Qualcomm Technologies began in 2019. The two parties provided domain controllers to automakers and helped them to bring them to market. In 2022, the two parties jointly developed the first generation of Garmin Unified Cabin based on the Snapdragon cockpit platform, and launched subsequent models every year thereafter.
