The MIC2178 is a 200 kHz synchronous step-down (step-down) switching regulator designed for high-efficiency, battery-powered applications. In a 20-pin wide power SOIC package, the operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C. The input voltage of the MIC2178 ranges from 4.5V to 16.5V, and the built-in power MOSFETs provide up to 2.5A output current. It can operate at 100% maximum duty cycle and is suitable for low leakage pressure conditions. It also has an off mode that reduces the static current to less than 5μA.
Typical Application Circui
The MIC2178 achieves high efficiency over a wide output current range by operating in PWM or skip mode. The operating mode is selected externally, usually by an intelligent system, based on operating conditions, efficiency, and noise requirements. Switching frequency is preset at 200 kHz and can be synchronized with external clock signals up to 300 kHz.
Functional Block Diagram
MIC2178 uses current mode control with built-in current induction. Current mode control provides superior line regulation and makes the regulator control loop easy to compensate. Output protection pulse against pulse current limitation and heat shutdown. When the input voltage is less than 4.5V, the undervoltage lock turns the output off.
