The Monolithic Power System (MPS) MP2651 Buck Boost Charger IC is designed for a battery pack with one to four battery cells connected in series. The MP2651 provides a wide range of 4V to 22V input voltages (VIN) to charge the battery. The device's buck boost topology authorizes the battery voltage to be higher or lower than the VIN. The MP2651 charger IC is provided with a TQFN-30 (4mm x 5mm) package.

When the input is present, the MPS MP2651 Buck Boost Charger ic operates in charging mode. The device realizes four phase battery voltage measurement and battery charging. The four stages are constant current trickle charging, constant current pre charging, constant current fast charging and constant voltage charging. Other functions include charge termination and automatic charging. The input current (IIN) and VIN limits are integrated to avoid overloading the input power supply. MP2651 can also provide a wide voltage range (3V to 21V) at the input, when the source mode is convenient. The device also has an output current (IOUT) limit, and has high resolution in source mode.
