To provide circuit protection in Gigabit Ethernet applications, smartphones, video card interfaces, etc., ProTek Devices has introduced a new ultra-low capacitance (0.9pF) steering diode / transient voltage suppressor array (TVS array). PAZC099 is rated for 5V applications with a peak pulse power of 100 watts (8/20 microseconds) per line. The company says it is also ideal for circuit protection in USB 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 applications, DVI interfaces and other portable electronics.
PAZC099 provides surge suppression and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection in such high-speed data line applications. ESD protection> 25kV. It combines eight ultra-low capacitance steering diodes for up to four separate data or transmission lines. The device has a TVS diode for the power bus and meets or exceeds various IEC standards: 61000-4-2 (ESD): 15kV air, 8kV contacts; 61000-4-4 for electrical fast transients (EFT): 40A, 5 / 50ns; and 61000-4-5 (surge). In addition, PAZC099 provides low clamping voltage and is compliant with RoHS and REACH requirements.
The device is available in a space-saving SOT-23-6 package configuration. The small package size minimizes lead inductance and prevents overshoots during high ESD current events. ProTek equipment recommends that PAZC099 be mounted near the connector on the PCB. The approximate weight of this component is only 16 mg. Other key mechanical properties include lead-free nickel-palladium coating and UL 94V-0 flammability rating. The solder reflow temperature (Ni-Pd-Au: Ni / Pd / Au, 96 / 3.5 / 0.5) is 260 ° C to 270 ° C. Operating and storage temperature is -55C to 150C.
