The LM95214 device is an 11-bit digital temperature sensor with a 2-wire System Management Bus (SMBus) interface that very precisely monitors the temperature of four remote diodes as well as its own temperature. A variety of energy saving features, including: programmable conversion rate, shutdown mode, closing unused channels, and more. The four remote diodes can be external devices such as microprocessors, graphics processors, and the target is the ideal 2N3904 transistor or diode connected to 2N3904.

Pin Configuration

The LM95214 provides temperature reports in two different formats: +127.875°C/ -128°C and 0°C/255°C. The LM95214 TCRIT1, TCRIT2 and TCRIT3 outputs are triggered when any unmasked channel exceeds its corresponding programmable limit and can be used to shut down the system, turn on the system fan or as a microcontroller interrupt function. The current state of the TCRIT1, TCRIT2, and TCRIT3 pins can be read from the status register. The mask register can be used for further control of the TCRIT output.

Functional Block Diagram

Two LM95214 remote temperature channels have programmable digital filters, while the other two remote channels use fault queues to reduce unnecessary TCRIT events when temperature spikes are encountered. For optimal flexibility and accuracy, each LM95214 channel contains a register for offset correction. A tertiary address pin allows up to 3 lm95214 to connect to the same SMBus main bus.
