Texas Instruments UCC24630 SR is a high-performance controller and driver for N-channel MOSFET power devices for secondary synchronous rectification. The combination of controller and MOSFET can simulate a nearly ideal diode rectifier. The company said that the solution not only directly reduces the power consumption of the rectifier, but also reduces the primary side loss, which is due to the compounding of efficiency gains. UCC24630 adopts the volt-second balance control method, which is very suitable for using various flyback power supplies in a wide output voltage range because the device is not directly connected to the MOSFET drain. The SR driver turn-off threshold is independent of the MOSFET RDS (on), which optimizes the maximum on-time. Similarly, secondary current ringing due to device and layout inductance does not affect the SR turn-off threshold. The UCC24630 controller provides a programmable false trigger filter, a frequency detector that automatically switches to standby mode and provides pin fault protection under low power conditions. UCC24630 is compatible with DCM, TM and CCM operations.
