Texas Instruments LMH6401 is designed for DC to radio frequency (RF), intermediate frequency (IF) and high speed time domain applications. It is a versatile broadband, digitally controlled, variable gain amplifier (DVGA). This device is an ideal analog-to-digital converter (ADC) driver for DC or AC coupled applications that require automatic gain control (AGC).
Optimized noise and distortion performance to drive ultra-wideband ADCs. For full-scale signal levels, the amplifier has a noise figure of 8dB at maximum gain and -63dBc harmonic distortion at 1GHz. The device supports single and divided supply operation to drive the ADC. A common-mode reference input pin is provided to align the amplifier output common-mode with the ADC input requirements.
Gain control is performed via the SPI interface, allowing a 32dB gain range (in 1dB steps) from -6dB to 26dB. The power-down function can also be controlled via an external PD pin or SPI. This level of performance can be achieved at a low power level of 345mW. Operating ambient temperature range is -40C to 85C.
