     Vishay Intertechnology has announced the launch of a new series of screw-in aluminum electrolytic capacitors -202 PML-ST, which allows designers to store higher energy in smaller Spaces. Available in 11 small package dimensions, from 35 mm x 60 mm to 90 mm x 220 mm, Vishay BCcomponents 202 PML-ST series capacitors offer higher capacitance/voltage (CV) values than previous solutions and ripple current up to 49.6 A at +85°C. ESR as low as 2mW and service life up to 10,000 hours.

    The electrolytic capacitors have a cylindrical aluminum housing with blue sleeve insulation and a pressure reducer in the seal disc, with a rated voltage of 200 V to 450 V and a high volume/high voltage combination of 56 000 µF to 15 000 µF. For example, the 2200µF/400 V rated CV device, which was previously available in a 65 mm x 105 mm package, is now available in a 50 mm x 105 mm package. Capacitor ripple current and ESR are superior to previous generation solutions with similar profile size rated CV devices. For example, a 4700µF/400 V rated CV device increases ripple current by 12% and reduces ESR by 16%.

     As polarised aluminium electrolytic capacitors using non-solid-state electrolytes, the device meets RoHS standards and is particularly suitable for a wide range of pulsed power filtering, buffering and energy storage applications requiring a service life of 10 to 15 years. Typical end products include industrial motor drives, train and subway railway traction, welders, HVAC, UPS, wind turbines and photovoltaic inverters, and medical X-ray machines.
